I’m Lo or LoKo. Or preferably Laura as it is my real name. In the summer of 2010, I left a job that I loved and a city that I’d practically grown up in (London, ON) and moved to Toronto to see what life away from home was like. My two sisters (and their men) and several friends already lived here making Toronto the perfect place for me!
I started this blog in August 2010 as a way to keep my friends and family updated on my life in the big city.
I am in my 30s (eek!) and I am a considered a failure in my small home town (Strathroy, ON) because I am not married, do not have any children and I do not own a home. I’m not even saving for one! But at some point, I really would like all three. And maybe a bit more like a car, a vacation home and a pony.
I work in communications and I spend most of my work day updating my company’s website. And bugging my manager.
I like funny things, books geared towards teens, moderate temperatures, recycling, trivia and family get togethers.
I dislike olives, weekend subway goers, noise when I’m trying to sleep, waste, the use of ‘your’ when it should be ‘you’re’, dirty dishes and many other things I will bore you with throughout this blog.
My favourite person in the entire world is my niece, who was born in June 2013. She’s the cutest person ever.
My all-time favourite TV show is Friends, but I think the funniest show of all-time is Arrested Development. The Final Countdown by Europe was my ringtone for several years.
My favourite movies are Clueless, Sixteen Candles, 50 First Dates, Pitch Perfect and Notting Hill.
I love all things Harry Potter and will one day go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando. Maybe on my honeymoon. Just kidding, I’m going to Greece. According to Pottermore,I’m a Hufflepuff.
I used to be in love with Pavel Bure, aka the Russian Rocket (from about 1994 – 2000) and I wrote a speech on him in public school. For those who have no idea who he is, I feel sorry for you. I’m kidding (not really). He was a hockey player from Russia who played for the Vancouver Canucks, the Florida Panthers and the New York Rangers.
So that’s me. I hope you have fun and maybe laugh once or twice reading about my life in Toronto.
